That is what drives us at Zenya. Everything we do is aimed at helping healthcare organisations do just that. We achieve that with software that helps healthcare providers deliver good care and helps organisations manage quality. Our first assignment (when we were still known as Infoland) was software development for a single hospital. Nowadays, nearly all hospitals in the Netherlands and Flanders use our software. This is how they meet quality and safety requirements.

And that is only the beginning.

Once healthcare organisations have compliancy in place, we look ahead together: how can we make healthcare providers’ work more pleasant, improve outcomes and make data more transparent? This goes much further than just supplying software; we brainstorm with our customers at an increasingly earlier stage, sharing our knowledge and actively involving customers in the development of new functionalities and innovations.

The story of Zenya (formerly Infoland)

From graduation project to successful company

What started in 1998 as an innovative idea by the Stege brothers quickly grew into a stable organisation (Infoland) with over 100 passionate employees and more than 650 customers. We take you through the history of the company and how Infoland eventually became Zenya.

It all started with converting piles of manuals (for the neonatology department of the Maxima Medisch Centrum in Veldhoven) into a smart document management system. Frank Stege's graduation project was the start of Infoland. At the time, the document management system was one of the very first web applications.
The continuation of the graduation project resulted in a successful startup by Frank and Ben Stege, both of whom had an unprecedented passion for technology and software. Jan Stege, Frank and Ben's father, also joined the company as managing director.
Infoland's first location was at Ekkersrijt, where we started with one floor. Soon, we rented the entire building. As growth continued, all Infolanders moved to De Run in Veldhoven in 2003. This location was still ‘chosen for growth’. 2003 was also the year in which Infoland took its first steps in Belgium, with a branch in Geel.
Infoland continued to grow! In 2010, there were as many as 64 employees. By then, Infoland was a leading supplier of software solutions with hundreds of thousands of users and three branches in the Netherlands (2) and Belgium (1).
In 2012, more than 95% of Dutch hospitals used Infoland's software to help healthcare professionals work smarter and more efficiently. 2012 is also the year when Frank Stege took over from his father and became Infoland's managing director.
Although Infoland's focus and growth market was (and still is) the healthcare sector, in 2014 we also increasingly served customers from other sectors. Market share grew rapidly in sectors such as industry, laboratories, the food industry, water companies, waste management, energy management, construction and installation, pharmaceuticals and transport and logistics.
In 2020, Frank Stege handed over day-to-day management to Marieke Kessels as CEO and Hilbert Leijen as CTO. They combine specialist knowledge and technical and business expertise. Fun fact: since 2022, Frank has been back with the company, but not as managing director. He is now doing what he likes best: innovating and improving the Zenya software suite.
Over 1.5 million professionals in the aforementioned sectors will be using Infoland's risk and quality management software, then called iProva, on a daily basis in 2021. But that name changed in 2021, with iProva being renamed and rebranded asZenya. The reason was to better position the brand internationally.
Infoland is spreading its international wings further! We saw opportunities in new market areas such as Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands Antilles, and set to work to introduce organisations there too to Zenya.
In November 2024, we moved from our familiar premises on De Run to the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, where we settled on two floors in a new building (Lucis One). The new location offers us additional opportunities in terms of space, flexibility, social cohesion, good accessibility as well as sustainability
January 2025 is a milestone for Infoland. Whereas previously we operated with two brands: Infoland (the company) and Zenya (the software), we now choose to continue as one strong brand: Zenya! And that's not all... we will also become ‘Zenya, for healthcare’. Does that mean we no longer serve our customers in other markets? Certainly not! But it does mean that we focus on the sector we know best.
