Of course you can read on our website how much fun it is to work at Zenya. It would be a bit strange not to say so, wouldn’t it? But every company writes that, of course. That’s why you don’t have to believe us, but you do have to believe your future colleagues! They tell in a nutshell why they love working at Zenya. And no, that’s not for just the ping-pong table….
Margaux Maenen is a data analyst in the development team at Zenya. She is happy to share what her first months were like. Her first impression? ‘I quickly felt comfortable and that is very important to me.’
‘I’m Margaux, 24 years old. I live with my boyfriend in Eindhoven. In my spare time, I am bouldering or cycling (bicycle racing and gravel biking). I like to sing and I play the piano. I work at Zenya four days a week and on Fridays I volunteer at the animal shelter. I also teach bouldering to kids at Monk Bouldergym. Then when I have some time left over, I also really enjoy reading, cooking and crafts.’
‘I have been working at Zenya since June 2024. I was specifically looking for a position as a data analyst. Fortunately, I came across this position at Zenya on LinkedIn. I called immediately. It was actually arranged in no time. I took another month off before I started at Zenya, but to be honest, I was just bored during that time.’
‘What appealed to me about the position is that the work is really challenging. I have learnt a lot in the past few months at Zenya, which is exactly what I was looking for in a job. I studied Economics at Tilburg University, and here I got a (small) grounding in programming and data visualisation. At my first job after my studies, in a finance department, I noticed that the most fun part of my working week was creating dashboards. So I decided to answer that call. Even during my job interview at Zenya, I sensed a nice, informal atmosphere. I quickly felt at ease and that is very important to me.’
‘At the moment, I am developing dashboarding for our RISK module in Zenya. Before I started at Zenya, there was already dashboarding for some modules in place, but it’s up to me to perfect this and to develop dashboarding for modules that don’t yet have it.
It is a technical but also a very creative process. First, I have to immerse myself completely in a module to know what data is interesting to see in a dashboard. Then I create a design for the dashboard. Then I create the data model or ‘diagram’ behind a dashboard and lastly, I create the dashboard itself. In making designs, I can express my creativity.
I also really enjoy dealing with colour theory and accessibility of dashboards (e.g. for colour-blind people). Besides developing dashboarding in Zenya, I also deal with creating reports within the organisation.’
‘I have only been working here since June 2024, but there have already been so many fun outings! My first working day is an especially funny memory. It was innovation day then and I was thrown right into the deep end. The funny thing is that one of the designs I created then is still being used. It was an intense first day, and I hadn’t quite understood that it continued into the evening and people even stayed overnight in the office! Another super fun memory is that we went golfing with the department.’
‘It’s always exciting to start a new job, but believe in yourself! Your colleagues always want to help if you have questions or get stuck. Also, they are always open to just having a good conversation. This is a workplace where you can voice your concerns and where your colleagues really do have your best interests at heart.’
